1 Corinthians 8:1-13 — Medium-rare love.

gospelthread: We will only be willing to set aside our liberties and rights for the weaker brother’s sake when we see that we too are the weaker brothers whom Jesus set aside his own endless privileges to save.

1 Corinthians 9:1-18 — Dead to rights.

gospelthread: The salvation offered through the life, death and resurrection of Christ is unearnable and gloriously good. There is no need to put restriction or payment on this grace.

1 Corinthians 9:19-27 — Running with the One who won.

gospelthread: The point of running the race is to win the prize. Jesus ran the perfect race and won, and we get the prize.
